THINK city - brief history
The second generation TH!NK city was designed and developed between 1999 and 2002 when Ford was the owner of Think Nordic AS. In the first 15 months of the project, the car was based on a Ford Ka platform before Think's platform concept finally was choosen. Stig Olav Skeie was Chief designer for the design program and did the exterior design while Katinka von der Lippe was responsible for the interior design.
The car was launched by Ford at both the Los Angeles and Detroit International Motor Shows in January 2002. After Fords return from the EV business, Think Nordic was sold to Kamcorp Microelectronics early 2003. They did not have financial strength to complete the development and start production during their 3 year long ownership. New investors establshed Think Global in 2006 and focused on starting serial production of TH!NK city. New headlamps, exterior miirors, front grille a.o. were rediesgned in 2007-2008.
First cars were finally delivered to customers in 2008. Production was moved from Norway to Finland end of 2009. In November 2010 a second plant producing TH!NK city for the North-American market opened in Indiana, USA.
