Student work
Institute of Industrial Design, SHKS
This page show some of my student work from Institute of Industrial Design, SHKS (now AHO) in Oslo.
Arna dashboard
ISDN Picture phone
Televerkets Forskningsinstitutt
A student project performed in1989. The students were engaged to design the picture phone for the future for The Norwegian Telephone Company, Televerket (now Telenor). Their Research Laboratory had taken a lead in image processing via the upcoming ISDN network. A technology that a few years later was commercialized by successful Tandberg. While they focused on the business market, we looked into the private market.
Arna dashboard
Bus dahboard
Arna Busser AS
A student design project performed with support from Arna Busser. Main focus was on the ergonomic user interaction. Arranging all instruments, handles and switches in functional groups was achieved by designing specific angled zones. Study of seating position, seating adjustment, view zones and reach zones was also performed. A full-size mock-up model was built and used for testing and displaying the project.
Vinmonopolet
Aquavit bottle
Vinmonopolet AS
A new design for the classic Løiten's Linie Aquavit. This aquavit is a globetrotter and is stored on oak barrels on ships passing equator on its way to Australia before it returns to Norway to be tapped on bottles in time for the Xmas season. The special bottle displays the travel route on a world map moulded into the glass.
Telephone booth
Telephone booth
Televerket AS (now Telenor ASA)
A telephone booth that should replace the classic norwegian phone box from 1925. Compared with that rather open solution, this concept was closed and large enough for wheelchair users to enter. It included a folding chair and a table for the telephone catalogues. A 1:5 model was built.
Telephone
Office telephone

An office telephone designed when there were only one standardized telephone model available on the norwegian market. The office telephone had a display and you could dial the number, check it and then phone (normal today, but not then). It had a handsfree function making it easier to call and to other work in parallell.
Adax fan heater
Fan heater

Cutlery
Stainless steel cutlery
Norsk Stålpress AS
A cutlery design proposal in stainless steel for Norsk Stålpress. The knife had a more ergonomic angle between comfortable hand postion and dish. The fork had amore curved "spoon" area at rear for easier to collect sauce and smaller food objects.
